That Pesky Nose Piercing Bump

For Mother’s Day this past year, I decided, WHAT THE HELL, I was going to treat myself to something I had been wanting to do for AGES: Get my nose pierced. Continue reading

My Pregnancy Skincare Routine

my preg skincare routine

As I mentioned in this post, I am a zitty person, so skincare is of utmost importance to me.  But unfortunately during pregnancy, all of the heavy-hitting pimple killers are a no-no.  There’s no using benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid products, so one has to get a bit creative and take a more natural route (which isn’t a bad idea anyway…).

Here’s a peek into what my skincare routine is like for the time being.  I still plan on simplifying it a bit more, but for now, this is working out just fine. Continue reading

DIY Skincare: Toner

IMG_4949

Skincare is expensive, am I right?  And if you read the ingredients (which I really don’t…) you’ll notice that even the simplest seeming product contains tons of random ingredients that you can’t pronounce, let alone want to slather all over your face. Continue reading

ipsy: August

This month marks my one-year anniversary as an ipsy subscriber!

**If you’re not familiar with Ipsy, it’s a $10/month beauty bag subscription.  There’s always one or two items that make the $10 price tag TOTALLY worth it.

Check out what I got this month:

Essie Dupe Alert!

IMG_4948.JPGAt $8.50 a bottle, Essie nail polishes are definitely pricey. But are they worth the money? This is really a polarizing topic. But it’s all a matter of taste. Essie polishes have a smaller brush and a translucent finish, usually requiring two to three coats.

While perusing my local Dollar Tree recently, I came across a polish color that I SWORE I didn’t have. Until I brought it home and put it on my nails.

Lo and behold, it was a nearly exact dupe of Essie’s Truth or Flare! And for $1! I bring you, Color Mates polish in Stormy Weather.  I also like the brush so much more. It’s thicker and applies evenly. And where Essie’s formula is thin, Color Mates is thicker and more opaque, requiring just one coat.

So, next time you’re in your local Dollar Tree, don’t pass by the makeup assuming it’ll suck.  Give it a whirl.  It’s only a dollar, and that ain’t bad.

ipsy: July 2014

Around the middle of each month, I get a flutter of excitement in my tum in anticipation of my monthly ipsy shipment.  If you’re not familiar with ipsy, it’s a $10/month beauty bag subscription service.  For $10, you receive a small makeup bag with around 5 sample size products (usually at least one is full size!).  It’s a great deal, and there’s usually one product that makes it all worth it.

Here’s a look into my July Glam Bag:
